Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 24 August 2026
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) govern your use of bigfan.lol and the services offered through it (the “Service”), operated by BigFan (“BigFan”, “we”, “us”). By visiting the Service, making a support payment, or running a creator account, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Our Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms and explains how we handle personal information.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract to use the Service. You must not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under any applicable law, or if we have previously suspended or terminated your access. By using the Service you confirm that you meet these requirements.
3. What BigFan is
BigFan lets creators publish a public page where supporters can make a payment and appear on a public leaderboard, or “fan board”, ranked by the net amount they have supported. Boards are published for the current week, the current month, and all time. Weekly boards start on Monday and monthly boards start on the first of the month; both reset at 00:00 UTC. The all-time board does not reset.
BigFan is a platform, not the creator. Creators are independent third parties. We do not create, endorse, or control creator content, and we are not a party to any relationship between you and a creator beyond providing the Service.
The Service is provided on an ongoing but evolving basis. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features, boards, or pages at any time.
4. Fan identities and display names
Fans do not need an account. Your place on a fan board is tied to a signed cookie stored in the browser you used. Clearing cookies, using private browsing, or switching browser or device will start a new fan identity, and previous entries cannot be merged into it.
You choose the display name shown next to your entry, or you can appear anonymously. You are responsible for the name you choose. Display names must not impersonate another person, contain contact details or other personal information, promote or advertise anything, or include unlawful, hateful, harassing, or sexually explicit content. We and the creator may hide or remove any display name that breaches these Terms, without a refund and without altering the underlying financial record.
5. Support payments
Payments are processed by Stripe through Stripe-hosted checkout. By making a payment you also agree to Stripe’s own terms. BigFan never receives or stores your card details.
When you submit a payment, you authorise the charge for the amount and currency shown at checkout. A payment only counts towards a fan board once it is confirmed to us by Stripe, so your position on a board may change while a payment is still processing, or if another supporter’s payment confirms first. Amounts shown as the minimum needed to take the lead are indicative at the moment they are displayed and are not guaranteed.
A support payment is not a donation to a charity and is not tax deductible. Unless a separately identified community-goal campaign is active and you expressly accept its campaign terms before Checkout, it does not purchase goods, services, influence, access, or any promise from the creator or BigFan.
BigFan retains a platform fee of 40% of each successful support payment, and the creator receives the remaining 60%. Payment processing fees charged by Stripe are paid by BigFan out of its platform fee and are not deducted from the creator’s share. The fee in force is shown to creators on their dashboard alongside gross support, refunds, and their share.
You must only pay using a payment method you are authorised to use, and you must not use the Service to launder money, evade sanctions, or disguise the source of funds.
6. Community-goal rewards
A creator can publish a community goal with one target and creator-selected UTC start and end dates. The public campaign states the reward, deadline, claim period, and separate versioned campaign terms. You must accept those terms separately for your payment to participate.
Eligible support includes only verified campaign payments, less refunds, and excludes payments with an open or lost dispute. Progress may fall. A result is provisional until BigFan freezes it after the stated review window. Hiding a public identity does not remove its verified payment from community progress and claiming never reveals an anonymous public identity.
The creator is the promoter and is responsible for funding and supplying the reward. BigFan administers claims and the final calculation but does not supply the reward. An unclaimed reward expires at the published claim deadline. Refund and mandatory consumer rights remain unchanged.
7. Refunds, chargebacks, and disputes
Support payments are, in general, final. Because the benefit — your entry on the public board — is delivered immediately, we do not offer a general right to change your mind after a payment has been confirmed.
We consider refund requests case by case, for example where a payment was made in error, in duplicate, or without authorisation, or where a page turns out to breach these Terms. Email contact@bigfan.lol with the payment reference as soon as possible. Nothing in this section limits any refund or cancellation right you have under mandatory consumer protection law where you live.
Where a refund, chargeback, or dispute occurs, the refunded amount is deducted from the fan board totals automatically, which may change your position or remove your entry. We may suspend access to the Service where a payment is disputed or reversed.
8. Creator terms
If you run a creator page, the following also applies to you.
- You must provide accurate account information, keep your sign-in credentials secure, and are responsible for everything done through your account.
- You must connect and verify a social account and complete onboarding with Stripe before payments can be enabled. Payouts are governed by your Stripe Connect agreement, and Stripe may hold, delay, or reverse funds under that agreement.
- You are solely responsible for the content of your page — your display name, biography, image, and any claim you make to your audience. You must hold all rights necessary to publish it.
- You must not offer, imply, or advertise anything in exchange for a support payment that you cannot or do not intend to deliver, and you must not present support payments as charitable donations.
- You are responsible for your own tax, invoicing, and regulatory obligations arising from amounts you receive.
- You may hide a fan identity from your public board and restore it later. Hiding a name never changes financial records.
- You may stop accepting payments or ask us to remove your page at any time. Financial records relating to completed payments are retained as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Acceptable use
You must not:
- impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone;
- post or transmit content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening, or sexually explicit, or that exploits or endangers a minor;
- use the Service for fraud, scams, or any other unlawful purpose;
- manipulate fan boards through unauthorised payment methods, automated tooling, or any attempt to falsify totals or rankings;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, probe or test its security, or interfere with its operation;
- scrape, crawl, or bulk-collect data from the Service except as permitted by our robots directives; or
- infringe anyone’s intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
10. Reporting and moderation
If you see impersonation, harassment, fraud, illegal content, or another safety issue, use the report form or email contact@bigfan.lol. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. We review reports and may hide a name, suspend a page, disable payments, or remove content where we consider it necessary — but we do not undertake to monitor the Service and we make no guarantee about the outcome or timing of a review.
11. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and branding, belongs to BigFan and its licensors, and is protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our permission.
You keep ownership of the content you submit. By submitting content — including a display name, page details, biography, or image — you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display it for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service. This licence ends when the content is removed, except where it persists in backups or where we must retain it by law.
13. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties, including payment processing, authentication, social platforms, and hosting. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, and outages or changes on their side may affect the Service.
14. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the Service available but do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We may perform maintenance, impose limits, or suspend payments entirely where we consider it necessary to protect the Service, its users, or ourselves. We may change these Terms as described in the “Changes to these Terms” section below.
15. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, remove a page, or hide an entry at any time if we believe you have breached these Terms, if it is necessary to protect the Service or other users, or if required by law. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnity — continue to apply.
16. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that fan boards will be free of error or interruption, that a creator will behave in any particular way, or that any content on the Service is accurate. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.
17. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BigFan will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or opportunity, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the total amount you paid through the Service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, or 100 units of the currency in which that payment was made. This limit does not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
18. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold BigFan harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense — including reasonable legal fees — arising from your use of the Service, the content you submit, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
19. Governing law and disputes
If you have a problem, contact contact@bigfan.lol first. Most issues can be resolved that way, and we ask that you give us a reasonable opportunity to do so before starting formal proceedings.
These Terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the laws applicable at the place from which the Service is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of that place have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, or of your right to bring proceedings there.
20. General
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and BigFan about the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent; we may transfer ours in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
21. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will give more prominent notice. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Service.
22. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to contact@bigfan.lol. Safety issues can also be raised through the report form.
